Early 2015 Photos

I haven’t been taking many photos lately mainly because this winter has been colder than a witch’s teat…after having been soaked in liquid nitrogen for a millennium times a trillion. Anyway, here ya go:

Went snowshoeing. Either the snowshoes were shitty or snowshoeing is much more difficult than I had thought. Still sank down like 1.5 feet on each step, but it was kind of worth it.

Pretty sure a hawk murdered a poor mourning dove at my feeders. Had to take a pic of the scene for the boys down at the crime lab.

A cheeky-as-hell squirrel dominating one of my window bird feeders and knowing that the glass partition was enough to keep him safe.

Same pic, but cropped down to his eye, which I thought was cool.

Granby Falls in Granby, CT. It was the first warm day of the spring and I had hoped there would be raging rapids from all the snow melt, but there weren't. Some cool icicle formations at least.

Bird Feeding

The next batch is all from my bird feeders. When we got our last snowstorm, the cardinals came out in full force, and they were beautiful against the white backdrop. I sat in a chair by my window for two hours getting drunk on hot sake, taking photos. Great afternoon it was. (The first two pics were not from that afternoon, obviously.)

American goldfinch at one of my window feeders. Pretty soon when it becomes mating season, he will be a vibrant yellow, which will hopefully attract the sexy finch of his dreams.

Actually, this was from the snowstorm mentioned above. Cute little house sparrow with his feathers fluffed.

A cardinal conversing with a dark eyed junco about how lucky they are to have delicious black oil sunflower seeds even during a snowstorm, and how awesome the guy is who provides said seeds.

I count 15 cardinals (make sure you consider the females, which are more brown than red). How many do you see?

That’s all, folks. Hope life is treating you well, and hopefully you enjoyed some of the pics. I hope to write something fun for next month. We’ll see if there’s time…
