Your Life Is an Unbelievable Coincidence

unbelievable coincidence

How many times have you come reasonably close to dying? Probably more than you know. Yet you’re still alive, reading this post. Take all of those close calls and multiply by 100, going back along your ancestry for 100 generations. Yet you’re still alive, reading this post. Isn’t it unbelievable that despite all odds, you’re here as you are? Think about it for a minute.

Now consider all of the infinite, minute details that led to your parents meeting, their parents meeting, all of your ancestors meeting, having sex, becoming pregnant, and surviving childbirth…and surviving the hostile environments of the past to be old enough to reproduce. Think of the tiny, tiny odds that through it all, you’d be here as you are. Yet here you are.

Each time an ancestor of yours was impregnated, the resultant infant was one of millions of sperm all fighting to get to that egg. Multiply that by 100, going back 100 generations. This is all getting ridiculous and my mind is cumming as I type this.

What’s my point in all this? My point is that you’re lucky as hell to be here right now as you are. Any number of the tiniest shifts in your ancestral history would have resulted in your never having existed.

Yet here you are, reading this post.

Truly, life is a gigantic coincidence. […]
